Benjamín Visser, Grupo Lucci’s collaborator from the Commercial Industry team, took part as a volunteer in Fundación Vicente Lucci’s Educating in Values program, which aims at promoting education in rural communities. Benjamin’s experience involved running a workshop on school companionship at No. 149 Combate de San Lorenzo rural school, located in Alta Gracia, Tucumán.
After receiving some training from Fundación Vicente Lucci’s team, together with all the colleagues, in the classroom, Benjamín addressed very important issues such as the dynamics of a harmonious school environment, empathy and emotional management. “As a father of twins, this experience gave me a new insight into the different realities faced by the students, in particular in the rural communities of northwestern Argentina,” said Benjamín when sharing his experience in the social media. In his opinion, this was an priceless opportunity to connect with the students and contribute to their learning process in an environment which fosters respect and mutual understanding.
Education and Volunteering: A Positive Impact in Rural Communities
The Educating in Values Program aims at contributing to quality education in rural communities by means of educational workshops run by corporate and external volunteers. In this context, Benjamín highlighted the importance of corporate volunteering: “I hope this small contribution inspires other people to get involved and have a positive impact on their communities.”
The experience was not only rewarding for the students but also for Benjamín, who thanked Fundación Vicente Lucci’s team and all those people who made his participation possible. As he said, “not only do these actions help children and young people but they also bring about a change in those who collaborate as volunteers. In addition, it is really valuable to promote these actions at your workplace and work hard to carry them out. In my opinion, it was also really motivating to get to know other colleagues in a different context and to do something for somebody else.”
Experiences such as Benjamín Visser’s show the transformating power of education, a key pillar in the work conducted by Fundación Vicente Lucci.
The Impact of Volunteering Firsthand
Gabriela Juárez, Administrative Analyst from the Agriculture and Livestock team, pointed out that her experience as a volunteer enabled her to get to know her coworkers in depth as well as face different realities:
“What I like the most is having the possibility of leaving the daily work routine in order to do something different and share my time with colleagues I was not acquainted with. Interacting with children was a priceless experience. Each of them faces a different reality, some of them are good and some of them make you reflect upon. This experience opens your eyes to different realities and raises your awareness in a way you do not expect.”
On the other hand, Melisa Mansilla, Controller, highlighted her personal learning as a result of her participation:
“Taking part in the volunteer program was a deeply inspiring experience. We worked with topics such as empathy, and the children’s participation in each activity was by far the most rewarding. I learnt many valuable things and am deeply thankful for taking part in this initiative. It offers, both us and them, an opportunity for growing.”
